Two Ladies is an animated video collage about my grandmothers, Marsha Davis and Helena Lazarovic. The film combines archival footage, photographs, audio and animation to tell the stories of these two irrepressible Montreal spirits. It was completed as part of my Masters degree at the New School for Social Research in New York City. It won the Mixed Messages Film Prize given by the New School that year.
Two Ladies has screened at the Montreal World Film Festival, Digital Diversity, Toronto Jewish Film Fest, Montreal Jewish Film Fest, Maine Jewish Film Fest, Palm Beach Jewish Film Fest, London Jewish Film Fest, San Diego Jewish Film Festival and Rochester Jewish Film Festival. It was selected as part of a Jewish Animation Retrospective, and will be screened at the Los Angeles Jewish Film Fest, and was screened as part of a special presentation at the Canadian Embassy in Cuba. It has also been screened on CBC Television.
